Behind The Lens

Location

The photo was taken in Sam's Town Casino hotel in Shreveport, LA. When a friend asked my for Boudoir pictures to give to her husband the day of their wedding I couldn't resist. We discussed doing the session several places before we chose this location. I'm so glad we decided to rent a room and make use of their large windows.

Time

We wanted soft, natural lighting so we planned the shoot for 10am when the sun was positioned perfectly in the sky.

Lighting

The sun gave us the magical lighting that was needed to make this image what it is.

Equipment

This was shot with a Nikon D7000 using a 18-55mm f/3.5 lens. A reflector was also used.

Inspiration

My friend wanted to surprise her husband the day of their wedding with an album of pictures before they walked down the aisle. She had the bridesmaids take it to him and his face was priceless.

Editing

I decided that black and white was best for this shot. I loved the way the light traced the shape of her body.

In my camera bag

I always pack my Nikon D7000. My favorite lens is 18-55mm and 70-200mm. I like the range the 70-200mm gives me. I always have my macro lens adapters packed just in case I find a cool bug along the way.

Feedback

I feel using all natural lighting gives Boudoir photos a softness and sexiness that looks amazing. If you have large windows and a reflector the possibilities are endless.
