Behind The Lens
Location
I took this shot at my friend's house, we were chilling and doing some desserts and pictures. (We work together as a photographers team, Fluophoto) I do lots of food photography and table top so the only thing you need is a table, some props and your appetite! You can use flashs or natural light but I prefer flashs because I can shoot in the middle of the night if I want! I love to shot when it's not the time to do so.Time
I guess it was in the afternoon. It was almost time for dinner but I was quick enough to take a shot before anyone ate it! (Yes, you can eat that, I'll tell you about later, don't worry.)Lighting
This "thing" was lit with a softbox behind. I use the 800 Alien Bees, simply the best ;)Equipment
I always have my Canon 5D MarkII with me. This picture was taken with my 100mm macro. I looooooove macro shots! I LOVE. Did I say I love macro shots?Inspiration
My friend and I (hello Geneviève, how are you?) were doing a crazy rainbow Jell-O cake. And then all of a sudden when we turned the "cake" out of the plate a piece fell. THIS PIECE. It was on plexiglass (with a white tablecloth underneath) and with this blue and green piece and the reflection I saw A LEAF!!!! TADAM!!! So yeah, this is actually Jell-O guys. Don't panic.Editing
I only add some contrast and vibrance, and I cleaned the background so I was clean white. In my camera bag
My bag contains all of my equipment, except for my flashs and light tripods. And my LED light. And my 70-200. And my... OK, my bag only contains my first camera with a standard zoom, some cobras flashs and all the little gear you always need like batteries and memory cards. But it doesn't matter because my house is my studio so everything is with me all the time.Feedback
You cannot capture something similar. Unless you want to do a rainbow Jell-O cake that takes 5 hours to do because you have to wait between the layers of Jell-O. Seriously, just grab some lights, any piece of cloth or background, and do some macro shots of objects. You'll never know what you'll discover :)
