The Kaidu River is called the river of nine turns and eighteen bends. Here it winds it's way through the verdant grasslands of Byanbulak under a dramatic autumn sunset. On this particular evening the curtain of clouds and light made it appear as if the river was cascading directly from the heavens. Bayunbulak is a high prairie grassland located in China's Xinjiang Provence that is home to descendants of the Mongols who returned here from Russia over 100 years ago. Located near the lower left hand corner of this image is a flock of sheep giving scale to this vast landscape. F16 1-2 sec ISO 100 0.9 Reverse Grad Filter Canon 6D.
