Location
The photo was setup and taken one weekend at our porch. I didn't want to spill water around and make a mess inside the house and there's no perfect place than to do it outdoors. There's a lot of free space too than indoors.Time
I remember taking this at the end of the day when it was already dark outside. It makes dark background easy to do!Lighting
A single off-camera flash placed at one side slightly behind the cup of water. This is the usual way of lighting liquids in general specially clear ones. There's a little science to it why this is done this way. Since water refracts light, this is way to get them illuminated.Equipment
Captured with a Canon XS and kit lens (18-55mm f/3.5-5.6). A generic radio trigger and flash.Inspiration
I wanted to learn how to capture water drops and there's no way but to do it despite the limited gear. Did not let the gear stop the challenge of learning how to do it even risking water drops to get on the kit lens and camera.Editing
Post-processing was made to the photo. First, it was converted from RAW. Levels and contrast were next then added the green color to it. Some sharpening were also done for the final version of the photo. In my camera bag
This a very obvious answer -- my Canon Rebel XS with it's kit lens, the radio trigger and flash. Batteries and SD cards are next. Some rags.Feedback
One piece of advice would I could is to not let limited gear get in the way. If there's a will there's a way.
