Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken from the top of St Paul's Cathedral, I was visiting my sister and her friend had an extra ticket to do the tour and go up to the top of the Cathedral, so I went along with her, it was winter so the sun was setting early and I got the opportunity to capture the moment, an amazing sunset over the rooftops of London.

Time

obviously taken at sunset, we waited about half an hour for the colours to develop and the sun sink behind the London Eye

Lighting

ISO 260 1/250 sec f4.5

Equipment

The picture was taken with my Sony DSC-R1 (bridge Camera). I didn't have a tripod, so I had to balance the camera on the wall.

Inspiration

I had taken my camera with me as I was playing tourist for the day and wanted to be ready to get some good photos of London for my brother-in laws office as his Christmas present. He was very happy with this Photo.

Editing

The image was cropped into Panoramic format and a small black border added.

In my camera bag

I would normally have 1 or 2 bodies (A700/A77) and my 16-105 lens as it is very versatile and sometimes my 70-200 (F2.8) lens particularly for sport, sometimes I will bring my wide angle lens 10-18mm

Feedback

wait for the moment, sunsets normally develop in colour, get more intense, so pick your location, set up, your camera, take a few practice shots to confirm composition and then wait.
