Behind The Lens

Location

The picture was taken in Sagrada Familia, a famous church initially designed by Gaudi in Barcelona. This basilica is not finalized yet and two years ago, they opened a new zone that is a fantastic area for the light and atmosphere.

Time

This was around 14:00, in a sunny day ending March

Lighting

The iso was quite high (1000). The interior of the basilica is full of ligh in different colours and textures but is not easy to get a good exposure.

Equipment

Nikon D90 with 18_105 objective (kit). Not flash and handheld.

Inspiration

Gaudi was very inpired in the oriental tradition, specially Japan. Minimalism and inspiration in nature. The building if very human, fully of textures, curves and spirals like the nature in the vegetal world. With a lot of light and colours. Another aspect that I tried to stand out was the metal railings, that are very close to our local tradition, in the catalan modernism.

Editing

Yes I did. Basically I croped the image to delete some heads from the people in the base of the image, but the ligh and exposure are the original ones from the raw file.

In my camera bag

Nikon D90 with 18_105 and recently one 200-300.

Feedback

The main problem taking pictures in Sagrada Familia is to get in. Is normally crowded and you have to take the tickets in advance (internet). Is difficult to take pictures without people looking around, but is a wonderfull place if you come to Barcelona.
