Location
This photo was taken in Selous, Tanzania. taken from a boat safari, slowly drifted to the sand bank where the croc was basking in the afternoon sun, not moving too quickly otherwise the croc would move fast into the water.Time
Afternoon around 4pm, just when the light was becoming goldenLighting
Making sure the light was side or back light to capture the light in the eye, and a golden colour to the crocEquipment
Hand held canon 50d with 100-400mm canon lensInspiration
The crocs fascinated me how they would lay on the sand backs with the mouth slightly open to cool themselvesEditing
I do not believe in post processing in a big way, a slight crop of this photo was the only thing I did.In my camera bag
Normally I have my new 6d canon and 100-400mm lens, as I enjoy wildlife photography it gives great flexibility.Feedback
Wildlife photography is best early morning or late afternoon when you have the warm light, also most animals are more active at these times of day. Approaching slowly as not to scare what you are photographing, if by boat, engine off and glide through.
