Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken at my home studio

Time

We started shooting in the morning and I believe this editorial make up was the second or the third. therefore this was around the afternoon as each make up took quite a while to complete

Lighting

I tried different position of lighting but I am sure this one had three lighting. One with beauty dish in front of the model and the other two at the back side of the model. As dark muslin background was used, I let the light spilled a bit for the background to be a little bit illuminated

Equipment

I used Canon 5D mk iii, Sigma 70-200 OC, vanguard 323CT tripod, jinbei flash, and two speedlites

Inspiration

I have to give credit of my MUA as she was the one who came up with new different creative make up ideas

Editing

I used portrait professional pro for retouching. The software did great job preserving natural look.

In my camera bag

Mostly my equipment in my bag is Canon 5D Mk III + 24-105 Sigma lenses, 2 speed lites, 2 receiver and 1 trigger. I bring my portable jinbei DC 1200 with me whenever there is outdoor job where the sun is used for rim light

Feedback

In order to get something similar, I could advise that collaboration between creative MUA and photographers who are not scared to play around with lighting should be able to replicate this similar editorial image easily
