Photography: Insects
Photographic Subject: Yellow & Black Horned Spider
About the Image: This image was the very first image I capture using a DSLR camera. Finally after years of using expensive film photography had virtually become cost free, excluding the equipment and of course you could check the image and make corrections on the fly. This of course was possible with standard SLR cameras if you had the right equipment. this image to me represents a turning point not just in camera technology but in the direction of the entire photographic industry. For me I saw an opportunity to perhaps become a professional photographer, the chance to follow my dreams, unfortunately so did a lot of other people. Yet there are photographers out there that are making a good living from their work, and there photographs are not any different to other photographers that have embraced photography as a hobby and really know their equipment. The trick then is how do you make a living from your work with so many other skilled photographers out there? The answer is simple good business strategies first. the photography is only one part of many skills needed to build a successful photographic based business. Most important of all is not to give up, sure there is some stiff competition out there but this is the same for many other industries.
