Location
This photo was taken during my trip Macau. Looking for a subject, I chanced upon the beautiful view of the columns of hotels reflecting in the lagoon of The Venetian HotelTime
Being bored inside the hotel room, I said to myself that i should utilized every hour of my trip to make it a great vacation. A little late in the evening, I walk around the vicinity of the Venetian Hotel and I was amazed of this wonderful view. Bringing along my tripod, I looked for a perfect angle to capture the scene including its water reflections. This photo was taken on May 11, 2013 at 10:24 PM.Lighting
In order to capture a nice night scene, I set my camera in BULB position with an f/22 opening and to avoid washing the image in a long exposure shot I set the ISO to 100. I made several shout using different exposure time and find the shot better at 16 seconds.Equipment
This was shot on a Canon 7D with a 17-40mm f/4L Lens mounted in a Benro tripod. No filter was used.Inspiration
Seeing other photographers night shots, i was amazed on how they achieved great results. I also wanted to have icon shots from other countries which is my primary objective in my travel.Editing
As an amateur photographer, I am not used to take photos in RAW format. I always use JPEG since I am not familiar of editing in Photoshop. I do very simple post processing using Lightroom 4 which to date have not yet explore much of its feature. As an office worker,I often go home late and have no much time studying post processing techniques. As much as posible, I wanted my image to look natural so that people will see it the same when they visit the place. In my camera bag
When I travel, I used to packed in the camera bag my Canon 7D, a wide lens 17-40mm, 24-70mm and a 50mm prime. I always bring my cleaning kit, battery charger and spare batteries. I just place my tripod in the suit case and carry it during the photowalk.Feedback
My advice for new photographers like me, they should always be creative and observant in the surroundings. Sometimes you will find a great subject in a place that is not expected. Do not be ashame in public and feel that you are also a pro. Equipments does not necessarily be that expensive. Always remember that it is the photographer that create the photos and the camera is only the one that process. No matter how expensive your gear is, it will not capture a stunning photo without the photographer.
