Location
I took this one morning after work around the Pittsfield Lake. I often drove around the lake after a stressful night to see the beauty of morning.Time
This was taken around 8am. It was a misty morning and I noticed as I drove past the trees, the rainbow rings around the trees. I stopped and shot a few images quickly hand-held.Lighting
The lighting was unique and changing every few minutes that morning, this was sort of a chance event. Morning light is so powerful, the trees helped make this scene more interesting.Equipment
Canon xsi 18-55mm. I have since upgraded, but this is still one of my personal favorites from my own image library. No flash taken at 1/320 ISO 200 f5.Inspiration
I tend to have a camera with me at all times. Living in a rural area, there is a lot of beauty at the back door. This was one of those special moments, I knew the light was just right for what I intended to capture.Editing
I did very little post processing to this image. A little sliding with exposure, color and contrast. Some white balance corrections, noise reduction and a slight crop.In my camera bag
I currently carry 2 Canon Rebel bodies, t3i and xsi. A lensbaby spark 50mm/5.6 full manual, 18-55mm 3.5, 24mm wide angle 2.8, 55-250mm, 50mm 1.8, a speed light, remote shutter release, lens hoods of different types, batteries.Feedback
Time of day is essential to capture images like this. I have a few more that are similar in subject and category of photography that were captured around the same time, usually between 7am and 8 am. These are opportunistic photos, you have to be ready for that foggy morning if you have a long commute or just like to take a drive in less urban areas, meaning you need to take your camera with you.
