The history of Selsoe manor House on the island of Sealand, Denmark, goes back to 1100. The present building complex is from the Renaissance, 1570s, but the castle was rebuilt in the Baroque period in 1730s. Uninhabited since 1829, it has original interiors from the 18th century. Beneath the castle, there is Renaissance cellar rooms including the oldest working kitchen in Denmark. In 1983 the restoration (to arrest further decay) of the castle was awarded the European Nostra Diploma of Merit.
