As a fire-fighter with a Volunteer Fire Dept in an unincorporated woodland area, we have to deal with more than our fair share of Wildland Fires, and also help the Forestry Commission with their Annual Prescribed Burns.
Prescribed Burns used to be called 'Controlled Burns' but as they do not always conform and have been known to become 'uncontrolled' for a variety of reasons, the name was changed.
This image was from a small prescribed burn that was conducted by my Fire Dept in September 2013 on a fellow fire-fighter's land as part of a training exercise.
