Behind The Lens

Location

The photo was taken in Universal's Islands of Adventure. On vacation in 2011.

Time

It might of been late afternoon going into early evening. While my family went on the Hulk Coaster, I decided to walk around the park.

Lighting

The sky had a mixture of the dark heavy clouds from a earlier storm, and the brighten of the sun break into the sky. Which gave the me the perfect mix of lighting, to capture the shadows and highlights.

Equipment

On that day the photo was taken with a Canon EOS digital Rebel XT camera. The lens was a 17-35mm set to f/7.1, also used a tripod.

Inspiration

After walking around and looking for the right spot. I finally found the perfect area to capture the clouds, the reflection on the water and one of the roller coasters. It gave me some depth of the surrounding area to frame for the photo.

Editing

Yes, I used photomatix editing software. I was just learning the process of shooting in HDR, so photomatix helps in editing in the HDR process.

In my camera bag

In those days I didn't carry much but my camera bag and a tripod. Now I sometimes carry 2 cameras, 2 tripods one smaller that can grab onto a railing and a traditional tripod and some lens cleaner ( brush, lens cloth and Rocket Blaster Dust-Removal) and some ND lens filters.

Feedback

Don't be afaid to experiment on different types of photography process. Go online an read and study what other photographer are doing. I learned that cloud atmosphere can enhances a photo big time. So try to capture those different types of cloud formation in your outdoor photographs.
