Location
The photo was taken from Belvedere Castle in Central park, NYC.Time
I went to this spot around mid-afternoon on a sunny July day, not too much by way of wind or rain. The lighting was optimal to get a great shot of castle and when I approached to take the picture it was about 2:30 pm and the sunlight naturally lit up the building for this picture.Lighting
I wanted to show off the grandeur of this building and the best way to capture it in my mind is to ensure the lighting of the building was at its apex before snapping the photograph.Equipment
I used a Nikkon D300 camera, no flash or other fancy gadgets.Inspiration
I enjoy taking pictures out in the natural world and coming upon this wonderful building in the middle of the park, I felt would add a human element to my portfolio.Editing

Just my camera and a curious mindset.Feedback
I would advise going out at different times of day because the lighting your going to get is not going to be the same at different points of the day. The morning sun is not the same as the evening or afternoon sunlight. Also the time of year greatly enhances or decreases the amount of lighting the points your trying to capture receive in the shot.
