Thank you! I love the ocean in winter and went here just to search for snowy owls and enjoy a refreshingly cold walk on the beach :)

Location
Salisbury Beach State Reservation in Salisbury, MassachusettsTime
Early afternoon in January.Lighting
All lighting is naturally from the sun. It was a crisp winter day in January with no clouds in the sky so the brightness created a high contrast in the snow and sand.Equipment
Handheld sony a200Inspiration
I always love going to the beach in the wintertime. It is always so quiet with very few people around. When i took this photo i wanted to convey the stark beauty of the dunes but also wanted it to trick the viewer into thinking it was still a summer shot.Editing
I have always shot in a way that i do barely any post-processing of my images. I like the raw quality and realism it brings to my images. The only thing i did for this image was convert it to black and white, increase the contrast slightly and place my watermark in the corner. In my camera bag
I like to travel lightly and at the point i took this picture,it was just my camera and i. A few years has bassed since taking this image and i now carry a different camera, a sony a7ii, my tripod, a 35mm carl zeiss lens and 14mm rokinon, and lastly a cleaning kit.Feedback
Try different angles, especially on the beach. Don't be afraid to kneel down in the sand and get a little dirty and wet! Perspective always gives an image the boost it needs to be pleasing to the viewer.
