It, a photo of a Mute Swan, was taken years ago my myself while delivering flowers for the Memorial Florist Co in Appleton , WI. The shot was out off Lake Park Road by a pond sandwiched between a cluster of beautiful new Condominiums on a kinda dark, late afternoon winter day. As I drove around the complex and parked near a frozen pond in the midst of the condominium complex trying to figure out the delivery route of the complex in order to make a delivery I noticed many of these Mute Swans " Cygnus olor L" hanging out over in the corner of the pond. Then I noticed on lone Mute Swan walking all by her self away from the crowd. Being the always ready Nature Photographer that I am, or think that I am, I picked up my F3 Nikor 35 MM Camera and attached my really neat 600 MM Nikor Lens and using a 5.6 f stop, shot a few pictures of said species. (By the way, at the the time of this photo shoot, I was a new employee of the Memorial Florist Co and I did not not know the rules: No cameras should be used by employees while delivering flowers. I had always thought that if I were to see a neat nature scene while delivering flowers...hey, what sells the beauty of flowers more than the beauty of flowers.....anyway the rest is History.....I have not worked for that Co for many years...and it was one of the reason as to why I quit. Again: What better advertisement could there possibly be...than a beautiful shot of nature..out there in the community, than a shot of of a beautiful creature of nature aligned with the beauty of a flower...esp a flower from Memorial Florists of Appleton, WI. Patience. Practice. Perseverance. Be ready. Something can happen in nature when you least expect it. One has to be ready and quick and don't sit around waiting for something to happen. Get out in the world and seek. John Hoepfner PS Again. One has got to be prepared for action.
