Location
The photograph was taken at a local steam engine rally in Staffordshire UKTime
The photography as taken during mid-morning to early afternoon on an (if I remember correctly) warm but cloudy days.Lighting
The lighting was quite dull due to the cloud cover but being mid-morning it was bright enough to all a fast shutter speed.Equipment
This is quite an old photography so I believe this would have been taken with the Canon 100D my first "real" DSLR camera, I used to use the Tamron 28-300MM lens almost all the time on that camera as it was a great walk around lens. The shot was taken handheld with no flash.Inspiration
We had taken a trip to walk around the steam rally as it is one of the biggest in the area, camera in hand we were walking around and notice this gentleman working on his engine. I thought the shot would make a good capture due to the textures and detail in the engine and the person!Editing
The photography was processed in Lightroom to convert to black and white and the detail and clarity increased quite dramatically in order to give it that HDR look.In my camera bag
Now I shoot with Olympus, but I have had the Canon 100D which I upgraded to the excellent Canon 70D but I was getting fed up of lugging around a heavy rucksack of lens and equipment when out and about so I moved systems to Olympus. I currently shoot with the Olympus OMD EM10 Mark ii, Olympus 12-40MM f2.8 Pro (the best lens I have ever owned), 60MM macro and 45mm F1.8 prime and everything fits in a small shoulder bag. No regrets moving to mirrorless!Feedback
Don't be afraid to get up close when the trackers are not moving of course! Experiment with the angles and perspective when walking around.
