Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken by chance one winters morning on the way to work at lake Tuggeranong in Canberra, ACT.I had my camera with me and walked down to the lakes edge to see what the fog looked like and the light looked just perfect.

Time

This photo was taken around 9am in the morning on one of our typical Canberra foggy winter mornings

Lighting

At the time this photo was taken my thought were that the fog and light gave an eerie look to what is otherwise a fairly average scene in normal light on a clear day.

Equipment

This was taken with my Olympus E-PL1 with the standard 14-42mm lens.

Inspiration

This photo was taken when I was carrying my camera everywhere I went looking for opportunities to get photos of the winter scenery around Canberra. We had several days with foggy mornings and I had been trying to capture that classic foggy landscape. This was pure case of being in the right place at the right time.

Editing

No post processing was required on this photo.

In my camera bag

At that time I always carried my Olympus E-PL1 with the kit 14-42mm lens, 40-150mm, an old 135mm Olympus OM lens and adapter, Sigma 19 and 30mm lenses. I have since upgraded to the OMD EM-10.

Feedback

The biggest tip is one my father gave me which is to always have your camera with you. that way if you see something you can capture it. This photo is a case in point. I had been taking my camera with me every day for about 3 months at the time this photo was taken. I took a lot of photos every day and then reviewed them each night to see how I went.
