This photo was taken within the Monastery of San Francisco, Lima. The monastery is more famous for its catacombs filled with the skeletal remains of 25,000 bodies.Time
Afternoon, around 3pm? The monastary only open for a limited time each day for tours.Lighting
The lighting was a little out of my control, however, the time of day allowed for natural light to filter through the library windows above.Equipment

The library was a very interesting subject. I wanted to convey the mysteries that might be stored within the hundreds of volumes. The large open books helped achieve this look with the intricate detail in the hand written script.Editing
Yes, the colors have been flattened a little and contrast has been boosted to give the room a more dramatic feel. The pages on the books have also been sharpened to draw the eye towards their text.In my camera bag

The photo was taken using an EM-1 with an adjustable screen. Whilst a seemingly trivial thing, I've used this feature extensively to "shoot from the hip" at angles lower to the floor. This feature can be quite handy with smaller subjects such as children, animals (and books).
