I was heading out to McKenzie Point which is on the Knik Goose Bay Rd in Wasilla Alaska. I had never been on this road and almost crashed when I saw this old fishing boat in the ice along Cook Inlet. I abandoned my original plan for the point and quickly walked out along the ice to have a look.Time
In late Feb the Sun in Alaska the Sun goes down rather quickly (about 4pm), so time was of the essence as it was coming up on 2 in the afternoonLighting

I believe it was the fact that it was out here so far away fro the Inlet. After I took the pics I became rather curious about the boat and later found out that she was named "Nomad" and was owed by non other than the Father of the Iditarod - Joe Redington's. He moored the craft there in 1969Editing
