We moved from the East to the West this past October. We moved just in time to experience the snow of the decade in Iowa. We are unaccustomed to the cold, cold temperatures and the high wind. We had around eighteen inches of snow, but the wind blew it into huge, huge drifts. We had places where the snow was over ten feet deep. The wind swept snow is so beautiful, but it can also be extremely dangerous when it is coupled with a windchill of -30. Taking pictures of the snow is so much fun! The bright white of the snow makes great lighting, but you also need to have just the right lighting to be able to see all the details of the snow without over exposing it. The little rifts in the snow and all of the unique shadows it creates is breath taking!
