Location
The photo was taken in a theatre during a pause of a lighting rehearsal, I'm a light technician and I work in a opera house in Bologna (italy). the set was just a white screen and I turned a light on of a strong hmi moving head ( a lighting fixture)filtered in blue.Time
I was taken the photo in the afternoon about at 5PMLighting
I'm lucky to work in a theatre and, sometimes, to adjust the lights to create nice effects, when you work with moving light you have a lot of parameters to adjust, this kind of projector has a power of 1200w, colours filters cmy and cto, you can also enlarge the beam, frost, pan and tilt movement.Equipment
This was shot with a Nikon D300, zoom Nikkor 28-80 f/5 ISO 3200 (high ISI because I had not tripod with me)Inspiration
I had my fellow photographer friend and collegue Renato that play a role. oI asked him to be surprised of the light. We were inspired by the movie Blues Brothers, the scene where James Brown as Reverend Cleophus James saw a light in the church.Editing
I developed the raw file with Nikon Capture, I didn't use any other process. In my camera bag
Usually i bring with me prime lenses Nikkor 50mm AF and 28mm AI, a zoom nikkor 18-70mm and sometimes, because it's very heavy, an old Nikkkor 70-300mm AF. An old flash, skylight filters. I like to move easly, so I prefer do not have too much weight in my bag.Feedback
Here is a very particular situation, where I had a lot of tools but very few time to take some shots. If you go to a theatre during a reharsal you should be friendly with everyone who works there and ask to actors to performe their roles, ask to lighting technicians and lighting consolle operator to adjust some lights because what you see with your eyes sometimes is very different of what the camera reads.
