A thoroughly good cover of the Opera house. I am doing a little project on these and the ballet. If you want to add your picture we would love that...it fits so well. The colour infuses the photo exactly as in life, I am sure... The light and shade are in balanace..I love it. Been in Bologna but not here...that will be for the next visit.

Location
The photo was taken at Teatro Comunale Bologna, a opera house located in Bologna. It's the placee where I work as light technician and lighting board operator.Time
It was a morning during a break from the work, while my collegues were at the bar to drink a coffee, I put the camera on a tripod a shot some photos.Lighting
The idea was to show the hall with the light exactly as see the public when come in to see a show, the lamps was not dimmered and I didn't add external lightsEquipment
I used a Canon SX 10 IS, an old bridge camera. The lens is about 24-500 mm , the photo was taken at the widest aperture with a tripod.Inspiration
I'm a light technician for opera and theatre shows. I worked in several theatres around the world and always I take some photos of the place where I work. The Teatro Comunale di Bologna is an opera house in Bologna, Italy, and is one of the most important opera venues in Italy. It was designed by architect Antonio Galli Bibiena. the theatre was inaugurated in 1763. How can I miss to take a photo of a so beautiful place with a so long history?Editing
I think this photo didn't need too much post processing, I lowed the highlights, adjusted the color temperature and increased a little bit the contrastIn my camera bag
I usually have in my bag the camera (of cours)e, a Nikon D300. I don't like to bring with me nothing more then what I need and obvious it depends by what I'm going to shot. I always have with me a Nikon 50mm, I love this lens, light and bright, sometimes I go out only with this lens, It's a good exercise to focus your goal without distractions. A Sigma 20-40 mm cover the wide angles, a Nikon 35-80mm help me when I need a lens for portraits and medium distances, a Nikon 75-300mm for long distances. I also put in my bag a remote release,I use it very often , always when I use the tripod; a microfiber cloth and a lens cleaner; spare batteries, memory cardsFeedback
First thing is to ask a permission to take photos of public buildings, sometime could be strict restrictions. Recently I waited more of a months to have the releasing form to take photos of the theatre of the town where I live. Second, never use the flash. Last, respect the rules of the place, sometime could be restrictions due to safety measure and be friendly and polite with the personnel who work there, It's the first step to have collaborators who help you to take very good photos.
