Next to Our Lady of the Poel Church in Tienen there is a monument in honor of the war victims of 1830, 1914-1918 and 1940-1945. The monument is built in a modern design with the simplest volumes.

In front of the legendary 'boomkes', a park of wild chestnuts, stands the bronze statue by the famous Antwerp sculptor Jef Lambeaux4. It was unveiled on Sunday, August 6, 1905, to commemorate the 75th anniversary of Belgian independence
