The expression "Out with the old, and in with the new", is one I have never liked, and as I get older I like it less :). But this year our fellow humans have been so keen to kill and maim each other, and innocent children, that I won't be sad to see it go! The pity is, "WE" will not learn, because make no mistake, all this is done in our name.

Couldn't agree more. How come here in a "developing country we have been without war and army for nearly 80 years now and Europeans who started the worst crap still want more arms? Like the German camouflage "greens".
But instead of stopping war at the source by reducing arms production, diplomacy and steady pressure on morons (Putin, Netanyahu and those who earn most from it) AND sheltering those who need to flee, they just make more walls and conflict.
How come some can ravel in "beautiful" photos of poverty but won't give a hand to the poor sods who have to seek shelter from the wars caused and paid for by the "developed" countries, like Afghanistan? How come Brazil or Costa Rica offers asylum to Russians who do NOT want to kill, but Finland sends them back???
All this to satisfy the greed for power of old men.
