STUMP ART

This is an original ‘Stump Art’ photograph. Stump Art is an organic composition, made without intention, of only wood pieces. The wood pieces are stacked until I feel it is ‘done’. Then I photograph the composition from all angles day and night. When I choose the ones I want to make a Stump Art photograph I will edit them in several different ways so there are different choices for each Stump Art. I will edit to bring out certain colors in the wood more than others or visa versa. So the buyer has several choices to pick from. I call them all Stump Art because I have found that no two viewers see the same thing. I do not want to make suggestions to their imagination, I leave the naming up to the viewer. And they really love the ability to let their imagination take over and let it tell them just what they are looking at. I have found that viewers love hear what others imagination sees. Then there are viewers who are eager to tell what they themselves see. They will point to different aspects of the Stump Art explaining its part in the whole, and they get excited if someone else starts to see what they are telling them. It is a fun activity for people when they are viewing a Stump Art photograph. A Stump Art hanging on a wall makes a great conversation piece. I have also put them on t-shirts, blankets, cloth bags and mugs. Stump Art allows your imagination take over.
