Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken at Garden City Beach, in SC. I was experimenting with some long exposure night photography.

Time

This photo was so fun to take. The sun had just set behind me not an hour earlier and there was a haze settling over the waves in the ocean. It was around 9:00pm

Lighting

Fir this photo I used the light painting technique. What I did was set my camera for a longer exposure and then illuminated areas of the rocks and water with the light from a flashlight, quickly spreading the beam across various areas.

Equipment

For this photo, I set my Nikon z6ii to the following settings: Aperature: 4/1, focal length: 300/10, exposure:30/1, iso: 250.

Editing

I shot this photo in raw and brought up the lighting in the areas where the flashlight hit and made some adjustments to the surrounding areas in Lightroom CC

In my camera bag

I always pack a flashlight, lens wipes, extra batteries and an extra memory card.
