A Crested, or Pom Pom duck, wades ashore after a swim.
South Texas. Winter 2023. I thought it was a female, but there is a curved feather on its tail that may indicate it is a male. Males and females look alike with few variations. Males are larger. Since this was the only one we saw, I didn't have any other crested ducks to compare it to.
