The old West Pier in Brighton, England. 12 days after this photo was taken, on 28th March 2003, the Pavilion at the far end was destroyed in an arson attack.
Then on 11th May the Concert Hall near the shore, already seriously damaged in a huge storm the previous December, was also deliberately incinerated by arsonists.
It is now just rusting metal frames.
