Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo at the Dallas Zoo (Dallas, Texas, USA) in April 2023.

Time

The photo was taken at 12:20 hours.

Lighting

It was a sunny day for this photo.

Equipment

Nikon D850 f/6.3 1/1250 ISO 3200 300mm lens, point and shoot photo (no tripod)

Inspiration

The cheetah was pacing in circles. I waited until it came around some vegetation and our eyes met through the camera.

Editing

Minimal editing was required: cropped photo.

In my camera bag

I have two cameras: a Nikon D850 with various lenses, tripod, monopod and a remote shutter and a Nikon Z50.

Feedback

Photographing animals at the zoo can be a little challenging due to crowds and dirty zoo glass or enclosures (fencing and cages). If you are patient, you can take some amazing photos!
