Plains bison - Bold

Thank you! I have been following these fellows for a while now, very often you can get pretty close, but I would not recommend it as they can be very unpredictable. I used a sandbag on my truck window for this shot. They can reach speeds of 70km/hour in about 8 seconds, also they have this other thing they do. Leap up to 10 feet in the air to squash would be threats into jelly! I was talking to the rangers about this, last year over 50 people were killed by bison, 12 killed by grizzlies... Sometimes I go down a trail looking for birds/foxes/coyotes etc and on the way back these guys show up! So I take my time and keep plenty of trees between myself and them and walk parallel /never directly towards one. Seems to work pretty good. The young ones are pretty entertaining to watch too. They often play tag and leap up in the air a are really exuberant!
