The white-breasted nuthatch is a small songbird found in North America. It has a distinctive black cap, white face, and blue-gray wings. These birds are known for their ability to climb down tree trunks headfirst and their habit of storing food in crevices. White-breasted nuthatches primarily feed on insects and seeds. They are cavity nesters and can be found in deciduous and mixed forests. Their calls are often described as a nasal "yank-yank" sound.
