Behind The Lens
Location
This photo was taken at a local nature preserve for the subject's senior portraits. I love shooting outdoors.Time
This is one of the earlier photos from the shoot. We went out around 6:30pm so we could shoot daylight through sunset. We had to change locations later on due to mosquitoes.Lighting
I had the subject looking into the sun so I could get all of the colors in her beautiful eyes to pop. I had her close her eyes and I counted down for her to open them.Equipment
For this image I used my Canon EOS Rebel SL1 with an EFS 18-55mm lens.Inspiration
We were passing by the tree with flowers and low hanging branches and I wanted to capture a closeup with her and the flower. Even though the focus ended up only on her eye, I was happy with the result.Editing
I don't currently have a computer or laptop so I move the photos from my camera to my phone and edit them with a program called Snapseed. In my camera bag
I have a camera backpack that has lots of odds and ends in it, like lenses, filters, flashes, cleaners, extra batteries; but honestly most of the time I just choose a lens, grab my camera, and go.Feedback
Don't be afraid to try lots of different things during a shoot, you never know what you will end up with. Play with angles, camera settings, backgrounds, concepts, just have fun with it!
