Behind The Lens

Location

I took this while strolling around in my home town. So many great picture perfect settings. I am a self taught photographer who loves to inspire others to take better photos even if they are not photographers. I love light conditions which I call ‘atmospherics’ ???? . I am inspired by light.

Time

I had spent the day on my own in town, wondering around, I had some ideas on photos I wanted to take. I love to draw buildings (urban sketching) and I thought this would make a great drawing.

Lighting

Autumn light is soft and beautiful in Hermanus, my hometown. I wanted the lighting to reflect this dreamlike quality. I wanted my photo to glow like the light.

Equipment

I took this photo with my canon 200D with a EF-S 24mm F2.8 pancake lens. (Great lens for Street photography for an APS-C sensor camera). I didn’t use any other equipment.

Inspiration

I knew I wanted to sketch this scene and I thought this would make a great photo, so I took the photo with the idea of drawing it later.

Editing

I honestly did not make very many adjustments to this photo except to tweak it a little in the Snapseed App.

In my camera bag

I have a Canon EF 12II macro extension tube, some variable neutral density filters. Polaroid filters, a telephoto lens and a remote cable.

Feedback

Autumn and spring make some magical lighting conditions on clear mild days on the Southern tip of Africa.
