On a trip to Trang, my wife planned for our group to stay at the Dugong Village Resort.

What a great choice, as we found Pak Meng Beach just a short walk from the resort.

The beach falls within Hat Chao Mai National Park. Hat Chao Mai National Park is comprised of the mainland and sea shore plus the sea and Islands of Ko Meng, Ko Chao Mai, Ko Ping, Ko Chueak, Ko Waen, Ko Kradan and Ko Muk.

The environment and vegetation (sea grass), along with the National Park designation, make the area an ideal home for the threatened Dugong (although we did not see any). This marine mammal is loosely related to the manatee.

While you may find other beaches in Southeast Thailand busy and crowded, Pak Meng offers peace and calm.
