I took this photo near the bridge over the Ogden River on Washington Boulevard in Ogden Utah. The "Welcome to Ogden" banner which is a key feature of the photo is just a short distance from the Ogden LDS temple another prominent and key feature of the photoTime
When I contemplated taking this photo I knew I wanted to get some of the tailights of traffic but I wanted to avoid the glare of the headlights so I waited until the traffic died down to manageable level which happen to be about 10:30 at nightLighting
Was the majority of the lighting was brought you courtesy of Ogden City and mother nature. I also waited for it a full moon so there would be extra light coming from the sky hoping to emphasize the contrast of the dark sky, the temple lighting and the much softer but very comforting glow of the "Welcome to Ogden" banner. I thought the banner lighting had the same glimmer of the full moon.Equipment
I shot sever al series of photographs using my T-Mobile rebel 6 pro cell phone. The technical data is as as follows: 13 Mgp camera 1360x2180 3.41 mm aperture F 2.2 1.02 MB There was no flash involved nor was there a tripod however I did use a street Post to study my shot and align my Horizon. ISO 1771, apatuerInspiration
I have a very dear friend of mine who greatly admires the architecture and design of the LDS temples across the globe. While walking in the area one evening I noticed how the light from the temple is framed by the welcome to Ogden banner and I thought this would make a nice photo. I waited for the right time and took the shot or several shots. Actually, and selected the few that met the desired image.Editing
I took the liberty of blurring out any local business names that could be read I also added a very shallow vignette. I also increases the brilliance of the color. In my camera bag
I took my first photography class as a freshman ain Ogden High School in 1982. I managed to Ace the course despite not having a camera. When I see something that I feel needs to be captured as an image I use whatever means are necessary.Feedback
Take a lot of shots. Feel it with your heart. Dedicate it to someone you love. Plan, take your time or if you see an opportunity be spontaneous. Don't let the technical minutiae discourage you. Take the shot, because you never get points for shots you didn't take.
