Behind The Lens

Location

This macro photo of a yellow Spider Mum was taken in my friend's office in natural light. She has a very large office space and has graciously offered me a portion of it to set up a small studio space which I am currently in the process of doing.

Time

This was taken on a cold February afternoon, when the light was pouring in the front windows from Main Street. I really needed a subject ANY subject to photograph so I had asked my husband to run to the grocer to purchase the best bouquet of flowers he could find.

Lighting

I didn't need additional lighting for this image but I wanted to use the vignetting setting in Adobe Lightroom to accentuate the petal edges which I think turned out magnificent!

Equipment

I used an older Nikon D3200 with a standard kit lens and a macro lens extension.

Inspiration

Nature shots, especially florals, are soothing to me. I love to explore their intricate details and individual parts.

Editing

Some simple vignetting and a tiny bit of saturation adjustment.

In my camera bag

My Nikon D3200, 2 lenses, a telephoto converter, a macro converter and multiple filters, a tripod, my laptop, several memory cards. Lol. What can I say? I like to be prepared.

Feedback

Be patient. Explore. Take more photos than you think you need because you will always wish you had "a better shot". Don't be afraid of playing with editing software, it's amazing!
