The Boat (or Little Boat) of Saint Peter is a popular rural tradition of the Northern Italy, particularly in Veneto, Trentino, Lombardy, Liguria and Piedmont.
It consists of placing a glass container filled with water and pouring egg whites into the water in the night between 28 and 29 June (feast of the saints Peter and Paul).
In some traditions, the container must be left open all night in order to absorb dew. The following morning you should find in the water the structures formed by the bubbles that resemble the sails of a ship. According to popular folklore, they would be produced by Saint Peter, blowing in the glass container would make the bubble the right shape. Considering how the "sails" appeared, one could draw good or bad hope of how the agrarian vintage would be, or about their destiny.
In this regard there are some Venetian proverbs concerning the feast of Saints Peter and Paul.
"True, it is true that San Peter is back. It is true, the true is the boat of San Peter "
"If it rains in St. Paul and Peter it rains for the entire year ".
