Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in Mount Toubkal National Park in Morocco.

Time

I took this photo while hiking in Mount Toubkal National Park. It was 5:30 pm when I took the photo. It was a cloudy day which provided nice details in the sky.

Lighting

Obviously it is natural light, so not much details to share here, but the sun was quite low which provided good shadows on the mountain and the cloud diffused much of the light from the sun.

Equipment

This was shot on a sony 6400, sigma 16mm f 1.4 lens.

Inspiration

I was hiking and I was looking to capture the mountains so when we got to this area on the trail and we could clearly see the mountains and valley in front of us I knew this would be a good photo.

Editing

I edited the photo using Lightroom, I simply modified the contrast, blacks, whites, shadows, highlights and changed the temperature slightly. I also lowered the highlights in the sky to see the details of the clouds.

In my camera bag

I always travel with my sony 6400 camera, my 16mm f1.4 sigma lens, my 58mm f1.4 helios lens and a few extra batteries and memory cards.

Feedback

I would just suggest to look for depth in landscape photography, it really helps to show how grandios the view is and makes the subject stand out. Also look for good lighting, a landscape photo always looks better if there are shadows here and there.
