This building is Austro Hungerian style old Jadrolinija building. Long ago it has been called Jadran Palace.
The Jadran Palace is the most representative building in Rijeka, and since its construction, Rijeka's reputation as a maritime emporium of cosmopolitan proportions has been associated with it. It was built for the headquarters of the first Hungarian maritime company, Adria, founded in 1882, which began regular merchant marine operations in Rijeka with an initial capital of 2,500,000 forins and seven medium-tonnage ships.
