Behind The Lens

Location

My model Cassie from Syracuse reached out on instagram and we shot near my home September 2022 in Binghamton. I styled Cassie and chose a stunning colorful backdrop on the dock of a nearby pond.

Time

This was taken during golden hour, my favorite time. I enjoy natural low light the most. Dawn and dusk outside are preferred for me.

Lighting

I love to chase the light rather than create all of it. I did use a flash to make sure my low iso was not grainy, as well as a natural sunset light from my right. I favor low iso and a 600-800 aperture and a polarizing filter for most color depth.

Equipment

I mostly prefer free hand shooting. My shutter speed tends to stay above 1/250 if I can help it. I’m thankful my hands do not shake when I need to lower it like this scenario.

Inspiration

The beauty of nature tends to inspire me the most in life. I also enjoy fashion and thrift. I mesh it all together and curate an ideal creative explosion of color and beauty and my editing process steps it up even more.

Editing

Yes. I really enjoy creating more vibrant and attention grabbing images. I tend to see things with rose colored glasses so having the technology to show what I can imagine in my minds eye is a dream come true!

In my camera bag

In my bag I only need my trusty mirrorless Sony with a 50mm and my polarizing filter and a flash just in case I need it when the sun comes further down.

Feedback

Let the creative juices flow. Just go out there and look for what captures your eye and stack it. Once you’re post processing trust your eye and love what you do.
