Location
Beacon, NY while hiking a Scenic Hudson trail along the majestic Hudson River.Time
This photo was taken towards the end of a winter hike on an unseasonably warm day in February in New York, just around 4 pm as the sun was begining to drop down behind the mountains.Lighting
I caught this just as the sun was going down behind the mountain in that magical blue hour.Equipment
This photo was captured hand held with my D7500 and my trust 18-55 mm lens at 32 mm.Inspiration
I just loved the uprooted tree and the wonderful formation of the roots. Framing the shot with that little bit of brush and capturing the coolness of the river on a relatively warm winters day.Editing
I did some basic tone adjustments and then really wanted the roots to pop so did a mask of the roots and brought up the highlights to bring out more detail. In my camera bag
I always carry my 18-55 and my 70-200. Also an extra SD card and battery. Nothing worse that going to take a photo and find out your SD card is still in the computer at home.Feedback
Always be present in the present and look around. Take time to stop and drink it all in. Around blue hour things just take on this etheral feeling.
