Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken on the corner of 20th and Walnut in Philadelphia.

Time

It was about noon I believe.

Lighting

It was semi-cloudy out.

Equipment

I was shooting with my Nikon Z6 with an 85mm f/1.4

Inspiration

I love patterns. I was out shooting some street photography one day and I looked up and saw the pattern that the apartments made.

Editing

I was actually shooting in monochrome but I did bring it into Lightroom to adjust the geometry, contrast, and shadows. I wanted the pattern’s edges to match the composition so it looked like you were looking straight at it, not looking up.

In my camera bag

I typically carry a 50mm and an 85mm, backup batteries, memory cards, and lens filters (ND, CPL, Pro-Mist)

Feedback

Be patient. Be calculated in the shots you take. Think about what you want the photo to look like. But don’t think too much, that could make you lose an opportunity.
