As a volunteer at Moores Creek National Battlefield, I was granted permission to shoot a prescribed burn. I trailed the fire crew and got lots of actions shots, but this is one of my favorites from that assignment. This photo shows the wooded area around the Revolutionary War battlefield after the flames died down. It shows how fire suppresses the undergrowth to prevent wildfires and lessen flood damage during hurricanes.
