Thank you very much. This is actually a revisit of photos I had edited. Did a different version of this before. Was preparing for a class in Lightroom and walking though the tool I was going to cover step by step. It was looking so good I did some more touch-ups in Photoshop to finish it.

Behind The Lens

Location

This was taken at the Battle of Blountville Civil War Reenactment In Blountville, Tennessee. It was a side thought of the lonely guard that caught my attention.

Time

Mid-morning, the reenactment troops were preparing for the day. This guard was monitoring the road into the site and allowing only venders and those who had handicap parking sticker/plates.

Lighting

The morning seem to be a pretty gray day. I had wished that I was there for sunrise with the clouds you see in this photo. As with most RAW images the image seemed flat and did not noticed the possibilities during my first review of the images.

Equipment

Sony A7III with the 24-70mm f/2.8 lens; f/14, 200 sec, ISO 500 handheld.

Inspiration

The loneliness of guard duty.

Editing

Yes, mostly the sky, using a gradient to bring out the clouds and color in the sky. I also brought out more of the shadows. Since posting this, I have removed the bales of hay.

In my camera bag

Sony A7III and A7IV. Sony G lens 12-24mm, 24-70mm & 70-200. All f/2.8 lenses. Do to the nature of reenactments I did not bring a tripod.

Feedback

In this case it was not the capture as such but reviewing and re-editing my older images (photo was taken Sep. '22) that I found this gem that I missed. Unless it is really bad (focus, stray shot) I seem to keep most of my images which allow me to review and find something I had missed. With my teaching, I am learning myself new tools that techniques to bring out the elements in my photos I have missed.
