Location
This photo was taken on the Brisbane Valley Rail Trail in early August, after two days of howling wind and rain. Riding the rail trail was an unforgettable experience: the camaraderie of riders, the grind up hills, the constantly changing scenery and the endless opportunities for photography! This is where the trail passes under the highway and water collects in the natural low point. Multiple bikes had been through the day before, churning up mud and giving me some great lines into the shot.Time
Mid-morning. We left Blackbutt late after a cold frosty night in the tent.Lighting
There were still long shadows coming across the trail from the trees. The bright sunlight and dappled shadows along the whole trail were one of the challenges of the photography on this ride.Equipment
Just a snapshot on my Pixel 3a phone (the best camera is the available one, right?) 1/3200; f/1.8; ISO65Inspiration
I wanted to show the mud and give an idea of the previous traffic that had been through there.Editing
Nope. Just a slight crop.In my camera bag
This was a fully loaded bicycle tour carrying about 40kg on my bike, so I left the big Canon at home (and grieved for it every day!) I carried my Pixel 3a and an Olympus TG6. The trip taught me a lot about how to best use the limited capabilities of both of these.Feedback
The lower viewpoint drew attention to the mud and the bike tracks, which was the effect I was hoping for.
