Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken on the river at Charleville in western Qld. I visit Charleville for a week every month and every evening I walk beside the river. The pelicans are very shy and often fly away so it was very exciting that this one stayed around long enough to be captured.

Time

Evening. The sun was setting and the light was nearly gone.

Lighting

This was getting very dark, pretty much at the limit of my hand held ability.

Equipment

Handheld Canon 700D with the kit 55-250mm lens.

Inspiration

I love pelicans, and I love seeing them on the waterways in outback Australia, especially in times of drought when the water is so scarce. Pelicans make me happy.

Editing

No, just a little cropping.

In my camera bag

I carry the Canon EOS 700D with the 50-250mm lens with me when I'm travelling for work.

Feedback

Be patient.
