Behind The Lens

Location

The photo taken was on a getaway trip in between lockdowns to York. This was in Whitby and you can travel by an old steam train from Pickering (not far from York, UK)

Time

This was around midday in early October and we were lucky with the weather as beautiful clear skies made the colours really stand out.

Lighting

I now have seen this image hundreds of times from all angles. With the sun being lower at this time of year and the rain around these Autumn months really does make the grass greener.

Equipment

I simply took this photo with my iPhone, I have only recently invested in a camera so I had to make do with what I had at the time. I’ve enjoyed taking photos of old architecture soo much that I’ve ended up here and buying a camera.

Inspiration

As you enter Whitby, a stunning seaside town famous for its scampi and fish’n’chips you can spot the Abbey perched up the hill from miles away. Once you get into the Abbey this is the one spot you will see all types of photographers all gathered together taking similar snaps!

Editing

No processing what so ever the lighting made the picture.

In my camera bag

I have just purchased a Canon EOS RP as my first camera and so my journey into photography begins...

Feedback

Rather than thinking of where you’re going to take pictures, pick somewhere random and explore, you never know what you may find.
