Location
This photo was taken in a small cove in west Wales called Ceibwr Bay. It was a couple of days after a storm (missed the real drama unfortunately).Time
This was taken late afternoon. As it was winter time the light was just starting to fade around 4 pm.Lighting
Nothing to say on lighting apart from I was starting to loose light and was worried I wouldn't get anything worthwhile.Equipment
I use a Canon 77D with an L bracket attached . For this shot I used my Tamron 18-400. It's a great lens for the price and very versatile. My tripods are Tycka and DORR. Tycka is aluminium, the DORR is carbon fibre. My bag is a Lowepro flipside 450. Amazing bag holds loads and is very solid.Inspiration
I am a fan of Nick Page and Mads Peter Iversen and after seeing some of their storm photography and photos from Iceland I decided to try and capture my own. The lightning was pure luck. I hadn't realised I had captured it until I went through my photos at home.Editing
I always use Affinity photo. It's a great Raw editor. Made a couple of tweaks in raw. Raised some of the exposure and tweaked the contrast slightly. Slight adjustment on the hue and some slight dodge and burn too.In my camera bag
As I mentioned. I use the Canon 77D. I carry, a canon 50mm 1.8 prime, sigma 10 - 20 and also a Tamron 18-400 mm. I have a variety of ND filters mostly K&F. Some polarisers and graduated too. My Gopro lives in my bag.Feedback
Don't be afraid to go out in bad weather. You get to see amazing things, you get really powerful atmospheres and moody light. It can be daunting but so rewarding.
